Are you being Professionally Catfished?
I was catching up on some insights from my friend Vicki Bradley recently. She was sharing some powerful thoughts on how confidence is actually built for Women in Leadership. It really got me thinking about a massive "blind spot" I’m seeing in the market right now.
I call it Professional Catfishing.
In my nearly 30 years working with executives and leading $1.5B transformations, I’ve seen it more times than I can count. People who look absolutely perfect on paper. They have the polished LinkedIn highlight reel. They’ve mastered all the right AI buzzwords.
But then they get into the room.
And suddenly, the expertise feels hollow. The confidence was just a great marketing campaign.
It makes the rest of us feel like imposters. We see the "Catfishers" shouting from the rooftops and we start to doubt our own quiet, steady brilliance. We wonder if we’re "technical enough" or "charismatic enough" to compete.
